About usThe Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) is a friendly and growing department seeking to recruit a full-time Senior Business Operations Officer.
About the roleThe Senior Business Operations Officer will work as part of a team to ensure consistent management and delivery of HR, finance, procurement, auditing, space, health and safety, information management, governance, communications and other general projects by providing high quality and effective administrative support, in accordance with university and faculty priorities, timelines and policies.
Providing direction and line management to Business Operations Officer, you will be responsible for allocating resource to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.
Successful candidates will have a proactive approach to leadership and line management as well as creating high performing motivated teams. They will have experience of complex administration, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to communicate to wide range of stakeholders.
The role is currently a hybrid role, and the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus and part of the week working remotely.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria- Excellent IT skills, covering Microsoft 365 (including Office) and data management
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with a high standard of English
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a professional and assured manner
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities in a busy, pressured work environment
- Ability to work with and manipulate data with strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Experience of running budgetary and financial processes
- Experience of HR activity, including recruitment
- Experience of supporting process and system change
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Experience in Higher Education environment
