As Governance Assistant, you'll provide essential administrative and coordination support to the Governance Team, helping to ensure Board and Committee activity runs smoothly and efficiently.

What you'll do

As Governance Assistant, you will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to the Director of Governance and Compliance, the Governance Team, and NHG's Group Board and Committees. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and enjoys working in a professional, fast-paced environment. You will play a key part in ensuring governance activity runs smoothly and efficiently, while gaining valuable exposure to senior leadership and formal governance processes.

How

you'll do it
  • Support the planning and delivery of Board and committee meetings, including agenda preparation and collation of papers using Decision Time.
  • Assist with accommodation, travel and catering arrangements for meetings and events.
  • Lead on the sealing of documents in line with governance procedures, maintaining accurate records (training provided).
  • Monitor the Governance mailbox, ensuring queries are handled professionally and escalated where appropriate.
  • File statutory returns with external bodies such as Companies House and the FCA, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provide day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to the Director of Governance and Compliance and the wider Governance Team.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure compliance with GDPR and NHG policies.

Hybrid working applies, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

The ideal candidate

We're looking for someone who brings strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.

Essential experience and skills
  • Previous administrative or secretarial experience, including meeting coordination and record-keeping.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
