AP/AR Manager and Senior Technical Accountant VAT – London Fire Brigade

This is an exciting time to join the LFB finance team. We have recently implemented SAP4

HANA and SAP Ariba, the first public sector organisation to go live with this cloud-based system.

The post-holder will be a strong technical accountant, responsible for overseeing our AP/AR teams as well as helping to ensure the proper administration of the LFC’s financial affairs, by delivering high quality financial services. The post holder will assist the Principle Technical Accountant in the preparation of Tax returns and final accounts, a critical contribution to the efficient, effective and economic achievement of the Brigade’s vision.

This will embrace the strategic, regulatory, statutory and stewardship responsibilities which are fundamental to the operation of the LFC.

The successful candidate will:

• Have recent, demonstrable experience managing a finance team within a large, complex organisation
• Have significant financial accounting experience within a public sector or similar organisation
• Demonstrate strong communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and communicate effectively with staff across all levels and functions
• Have a thorough understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables processes
• Be comfortable using accounting systems and a range of IT applications (e.g Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, accountancy packages and reporting tools). SAP 4/HANA public cloud experience would be beneficial.
