Senior Technical Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to join a professional services firm in Croydon. The role requires a professional with a strong accounting background to manage technical aspects of financial reporting and compliance.

This role is with a professional services organisation that operates in the accounting and finance industry. The company is a medium-sized firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services to its clients.

Acting as the technical escalation point for the office on accounting, reporting, and compliance matters;
Reviewing statutory accounts and management accounts to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and quality;
Identifying technical risk areas early and ensuring appropriate documentation and resolution;
Supporting Accounts Managers and junior staff with complex judgements and unusual transactions;
Owning and improving technical standards, checklists, and review processes;
Driving consistency of output across Xero-based portfolios;
Supporting training and upskilling of the team from a technical perspective;
Working with Partners to mitigate regulatory, reputational, and client risk;
Contributing to process improvement and efficiency, with a focus on quality rather than volume.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in an accountancy practice
• ACA/ACCA qualified (preferred)
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and confidence exercising professional judgement
• High attention to detail with a structured, risk-aware mindset
• Comfortable challenging work constructively and raising issues early
• Strong written communication skills, particularly around technical explanations
• Enjoys supporting others and improving standards rather than owning client relationships
• Experience with Xero and cloud accounting environments
