You will be part of a tight-knit team, working directly with partners and directors, providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner.

Description

You will mentor, train and manage junior members of staff to enable them to develop and progress with the option of being involved in formal training if desired. You will have a particular focus on not for profit organisations, demonstrating the highest technical standards in these areas. Our non‑profit clients include Charities, Schools, Oxford colleges, Religious Organisations and NHS charities, as well as commercial clients for those wanting a mixed portfolio.

You will be a fantastic communicator, explaining accounting concepts to clients, attending Governor and Trustee meetings and presenting tenders. You will immerse yourself in the sector, attending client premises, seminars and occasional evening events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for auditing of companies, solicitors, charities and schools including planning, and finalisation of jobs, in a wide range of sectors.
  • Present on‑site for audit.
  • Supervise audit team on‑site, reviewing the work of juniors and assisting junior team members with technical accounting and audit questions.
  • Experience in both substantive & controls‑based audits.
  • Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks.
  • Draft recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion.
  • Draft audit close‑out meeting agenda and points for discussion.
  • Prepare tax computations and Corporation Tax returns (CT600).
  • Prepare statutory accounts of companies, and consolidated accounts of groups, partnerships and LLP’s together with tax computations under FRS
    102 and IFRS requirements from client draft figures.
  • Close liaison with clients, and other stakeholders, often direct contact at Partner and Director levels.
  • Motivate and encourage team.
  • Promote the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
  • Generally provide a personal, professional, speedy and efficient service to the firm’s clients.
  • Complete other special work as required e.g. benchmarking reports, management information reviews & proposal pitches.
  • Work alongside current office management to assist and supervise junior team members.
Practice Development
  • Attend client gatherings or seminars on an ad hoc basis.
  • Spot practice development opportunities with clients and progress these in liaison with Partner/Director.
  • Internal networking to get to know your team & the wider firm.
Team Development
  • Use initiative to come up with innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regard to client or staff matters.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified to ACA/ACCA or internationally recognised chartered accounting qualification.
  • Non Profit audit experience.
  • Experience leading audits.
  • Technically competent.
  • Experience of Pro-audit, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, Quickbooks and Alphatax, Office 365 desirable.
  • High level of personal motivation.
  • Excellent communicator – able to get on with clients and your team.
  • Adaptable.
  • Initiative.
  • Ability to organise and a good motivator and encourager of team.
  • Personable and confident – clients should feel confident of your ability to relate to them.
  • Ability to multi‑task and prioritise work – time management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
