SUMMARY
Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of manufacturing processes, materials, and products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Creates and rolls out guidelines, practices, and techniques used for inspecting, testing, and evaluating products
- Organizes and performs analysis, inspections, design reviews, testing activities, and integration work to ensure the assigned product or component meets required quality expectations.
- Develops sampling strategies and related procedures.
- Produces the documentation, forms, and instructions needed for capturing, assessing, and reporting quality and reliability information.
- Sets up programs that verify the precision and accuracy of production machinery as well as testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
- Conducts quality-focused evaluations of design documents to confirm they meet specified requirements, including those outlined in vendor quality manuals and internal quality records.
- Utilizes statistical process control (SPC) tools to interpret data, assess current processes, and evaluate the impact of process changes.
- Reviews incoming materials, parts, or components and provides recommendations regarding acceptance and future purchasing decisions.
- Records and maintains data gathered throughout all quality-related activities in alignment with company procedures.
- Creates new methods or solutions to address issues uncovered during quality work.
- Communicates major findings or concerns identified during quality activities and offers recommendations for process improvements to leadership.
- Produces written reports summarizing involvement in quality tasks and the outcomes of those activities.
- Prepares and delivers technical and program-related information to colleagues, teams, and management.
- Provides direction to technical and administrative staff involved in quality functions.
- Keeps current with applicable government and industry standards, codes, and quality requirements.
- Develops and applies procedures for handling nonconforming materials and establishes ways to determine associated costs and responsibility.
- Writes training materials and leads training sessions related to quality control practices.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university, or four (4) to six (6) years related experience and high school diploma or G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
