Job Description:

Responsibilities
  • Provides daily physician management and treatment of patients at the Clinic/ Practice.
  • Provides clinical services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment and referral.
  • Participates in the establishment of office policies, procedures and medical protocol necessary to provide physician clinic services.
  • Appropriately refers patients to medical specialists.
  • Complies with BCHS policies, procedures and pricing.
  • Utilizes program forms/computer system for charting.
  • Complies with case management protocols.
  • Agrees to assist with the clinic/practice's quality assurance and quality improvement plan.
  • Works with Administration to ensure that the program operates in a manner consistent with appropriate medical policy and current professional standards in specific area of care.
  • Participates in community events and periodic public relations calls as time permits. Duties may fall outside regularly scheduled hours.
  • Maintains appropriate telephone contact with patients, payers and pharmacies.
  • Performs physical exams including Routine Examinations, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Post-Offer Examinations, Executive Physicals, Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Annual Examinations, and School/Sport Physicals.
  • May serve as Medical Review Officer (MRO) for drug screens.
  • May serve as Director for on-site Laboratory services if applicable to specific site.

    Minimum Education , Training and Experience Required
    • Current valid & unrestricted license to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
    • Current valid & unrestricted DEA registration number.
    • Eligible at all times to be insured for professional liability insurance.
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in appropriate specialty.
    • BCLS required.
    Skills and Abilities

    Required
    • Excellent understanding of limits and appropriate supervision.
    • Ability to collaborate with other departments.
    • Assist the surgeon in the office and operating room until all patients have been taken care of.
    • Familiarity with laws and state regulations related to advanced nursing practice.
    • Desires to maintain high level of quality of care.
    • Promote application of research to clinical setting.
    Physical and Mental Requirements
    • Physical: lifting (< 20 lbs occasionally), pushing/pulling when needed; manual dexterity; coordination; mobility; visual discrimination; hearing.
    • Mental: concentration, attention span, conceptualization, memory, communication.
    Working and Environmental Conditions
    • Exposure to infectious or communicable diseases, biohazards and/or chemical materials;
      Occupational exposure category A may apply.
