DZ Driver, Commercial Rearpack

This is a union position located at our Waterloo hauling site.

Loading is manual.

Starting Pay: $31.27/hr.

Start time: 11am-9pm.

Shift: Mondays - Fridays.

Safely operates a heavy‑duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.

• Operate vehicle in accordance with OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal requirements and company expectations for the fleet; maintain a clean and safe vehicle.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); note all issues on the DVIR form for corrective review/repair.
• Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Route Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
• Participate and cooperate in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Route Manager.
• Work closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
• Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
• Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Dispatch or Route Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick‑ups or problems that arise on the route.
• Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Complete and submit customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
• Position containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
• Follow route assignments throughout the day and complete all documentation when checking in at the end of the route.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid SIN (social insurance number).
• Hold a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher.
• The CDL is a requirement; therefore, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successfully complete pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and background check (including previous employment check and motor vehicle record review).
• Acceptable driving record required.
• No prior work experience required; education not required.
