Summary:Recreation programs provide all citizens the opportunity to improve self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness, and social skills through a variety of crafts, arts, and physical activities.
Role:Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Roller‑Skating Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation of the roller‑skating area. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment assisting with roller skating operations including cleaning and maintaining the arena, supervising on the rink during public roller‑skating time, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.
Job Responsibilities- Monitor the area around the rink and enforce roller skating rules through the program.
- Sweep the floor thoroughly after the scheduled skate programs and during (if necessary).
- Wear proper personal protective equipment during all skates (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads).
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Facility Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor on duty.
- Follow maintenance checklist and keep accurate records of work done.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co‑workers.
- Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor including accident reports, vandalism reports, customer incident reports etc.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti‑racism, anti‑oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Standard First Aid and CPR C (prior to the start of employment)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
Starting Wage: $17.75 per hour.
