Job DescriptionWhat You’ll Do:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Office Services, you’llbe part of the Facilities team and will share responsibilities for maintaining the facility. This will include PM work, maintenance work, fulfilling work order requests, contractor/vendor management, security system management, HVAC systems maintenance/management and other general building maintenance as needed.
The core parts of your role will be to:
- Apply a proactive approach to mechanical and physical repairs/maintenance, with careful attention to detail and improve maintenance standards to ensure building equipment operates efficiently and effectively. Maintain records as required.
- Respond to service requests, building maintenance work, inspections and other duties as required.
- Respond quickly, efficiently and courteously to all requests submitted by staff.
- Inspections and minor repairs of building systems such as roof top units, condensing boilers, split units, exhaust fans, etc.
- Minor electrical work (light/ballast repair, furniture whips, small appliance, etc.).
- Assist the rest of the Facilities team with inventory management of facilities related supplies, equipment, furniture components, etc.
- Office furniture system repair, reconfiguration and installation; able to make ergonomic adjustments to workstations as required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and standards.
- Complete daily/weekly/monthly/annual inspections and tests as required. This includes life safety equipment (extinguishers, emergency lights, sprinkler system), back-up generator, building aesthetics, RO water systems, water softener, etc.
- Monitor building security system, security cameras and fire alarm panel for proper operation and report discrepancies.
- Supervision of scheduled maintenance contractors and related services, including, but not limited to, interior/exterior maintenance, HVAC Systems, life safety systems, and cleaning services to ensure that value is received, and an appropriate level of service is provided at the property.
- Assist in internal moves as needed. This may include moving bins/totes, furniture, etc. Heavy lifting will be involved with safe lifting and team lifting techniques employed.
- Address building climate concerns and take proactive action accordingly
- Assist in shipping and receiving as needed, this may require handling items of up to 50 lbs.
- Participate in managing operational budget where applicable.
- Maintaining and using hand tools, power tools and other facilities related equipment; maintain and keep shop organized.
- Perform basic carpentry, drywall repair, painting and some minor construction on occasion.
- Communicate and liaise with fellow workers, supervisors, contractors, clients, skilled tradespeople and company representatives.
- Required to operate and maintain the company van
- Liaise with different departments for various event functions and assist with setting up same, both indoor and outdoor.
- Work with the Team Lead, Office Services & Facilities to coordinate pick-ups, drop-offs and deliveries of employee equipment.
- Preparing new locations for occupancy, closing existing locations as needed.
- Perform other duties within competence, as assigned.
