Job Description
BGIS ITS Canada Ltd., a division of BGIS, is seeking an experienced BAS Technician. The technician will service and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) in client facilities, perform programming, installation, and energy optimization tasks, and support system commissioning and troubleshooting.
BAS Tasks & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members, ensuring effective communication.
- Develop and implement project and service strategies to meet performance goals.
- Lead and mentor field team members in support of the BAS Manager.
- Participate in hiring, training, and development of staff.
- Support growth of BAS service clientele.
- Support construction project scope and deliverables.
- Program HVAC equipment and verify system performance.
- Integrate building automation software with third-party systems.
- Simulate and verify system operations using software tools.
- Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems, network communications, sensors, and actuators.
- Commission BAS systems, report anomalies, and verify installation and operation of related electrical and electronic equipment.
- Perform inspections, tests, and adjustments per manufacturer specifications.
- Utilize manuals and instructions for calibration and troubleshooting.
- Complete service reports and preventative maintenance checklists.
- Assist in preparing project specifications and reports.
- Mentor and train employees effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technician diploma, Technologist diploma, or Engineering degree related to BAS.
- Ability to self-learn and transfer knowledge to team members.
- At least 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Certified in Tridium Niagara AX – N4.
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control strategies.
- Extensive experience with BAS system installations and integrations.
- Knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and in a process-driven environment.
- Superior time management and multi-tasking skills.
