Operations Manager
Overview
Health & Safety Manager – ICI Construction.
Location:
Southwestern Ontario (project-based). Industry: ICI Construction (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial). Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support active and upcoming ICI construction projects, with a strong emphasis on COR program leadership and compliance. This role will work closely with senior operations, project teams, and site leadership to drive a proactive safety culture across multiple construction sites.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing safety programs within ICI environments, understands Ontario regulatory requirements in depth, and has successfully implemented and maintained COR certification within a contractor setting.
Responsibilities- Lead, administer, and continuously improve the company’s COR (Certificate of Recognition) program
- Ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA, MOL requirements, and industry best practices
- Conduct site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across active ICI projects
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to site personnel
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards; prepare reports and corrective action plans
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to embed safety into daily operations
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and reporting for internal and external audits
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and third-party auditors as required
- 5+ years of progressive Health & Safety experience within ICI construction
- Strong, demonstrable COR experience (implementation, maintenance, audits)
- In-depth knowledge of Ontario OHSA, construction regulations, and MOL processes
- Experience working on commercial, institutional, and/or industrial projects
- Professional safety designation preferred (CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence site teams and leadership
- Comfortable working across multiple sites and interacting with all levels of an organization
- Established and respected ICI contractor with a strong project pipeline
