Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

** We’re looking for an
** Underwriter I,
** to join our
** Commercial Lines P&C
** Underwriting team**.
** This full-time hybrid position will require you to be in office two (2) days per week and is available at the following offices:
London, Ottawa, Ajax, Mississauga, or Toronto (700 University Ave).
** What you'll do here:
*** Assess, evaluate and negotiate on small to moderate risks.
* Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions.
* Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with the company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
* Achieve productivity targets and maintain service standards in a fast paced environment.
* Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members.
* Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
* Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities.
* Participate in broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events where required.
** What you bring to the table:
*** Minimum 1 year of experience in an underwriter or underwriter assistant capacity
* Candidates with prior Commercial Lines P&C experience will be prioritized
* Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset.
* Strong sales and customer service skills.
* Strong negotiating skills and business savvy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Initiative and ability to problem solve and work under pressure.
* Awareness of market conditions and understanding of insurance principals.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
* No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
