GDLS-C is looking for an English editor to join their Edit and Translation team.

The Editor opening is a current vacant position at General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada. The base salary hiring range for this position is $54,000 to $70,900 per year. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health benefits, employee profit‑sharing, retirement savings, and more.

The daily duties of the editor position involve English editing of technical documentation for a prescribed style and format. The position also includes formatting and layout reviews of technical manuals prior to delivery. Language reviews are performed on a variety of outputs, including Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and other electronic mediums, such as PDF. The editor is required to provide accurate style and language markups within a budget and deadline and author these changes in XML‑formatted technical manuals.

The successful candidate will be provided one‑on‑one training. This training includes, not only style guides and style/language‑specific guidance, but also content management system user training and authoring software training (XML). While prior experience in these systems is an asset, training will be provided to the successful candidate.

• University degree, honours or higher, preferably in a language degree or related field
• Excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills
• Comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced team environment
• Willingness to learn technical skills as part of a highly skilled team
• An openness to learn something new every day

• Working experience in English editing, copy editing, proofreading and/or related discipline
• English editing certification by an accredited organisation
• Working knowledge of XML or other markup languages
• Experience working within a content management system
• Familiarity with military standards
• Experience in a technical field, such as engineering or automotive industry
