Key Responsibilities
  • Disability Program Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain a best-practice work disability management program
    • Oversight of all Short and Long Term Disability claims, ensuring efficiency and timely administration of the medical absence program
    • Coordinate workplace accommodations in compliance with relevant legislation
    • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to disability, accommodation and return to work programs that align with provincial requirements
    • Act as a resource for employees and managers regarding disability-related issues and return-to-work plans
    • Partner with other members of the Total Rewards team in benefits, health & safety and wellness to build a healthier, more resilient workplace through pro-active programming and education
  • Stakeholder

    Collaboration:

    • Partner with other HR functions (HR Shared Services, HR Business Partners, Payroll, etc.) company leaders and external providers (Third Party Adjudicators; Accommodation Specialists) to facilitate effective case management
    • Provide training and guidance/best practices to leaders regarding disability and accommodation best practices
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure adherence to legal requirements across all provinces and organizational policies
    • Prepare reports and metrics on disability gaps/trends, costs, and program effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities to enhance disability management programs and employee experience
  • Stay current on legislative changes and industry best practices across Canada
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in disability management, case management, or related HR function
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian disability legislation, including provincial human rights codes and employment standards
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality

Salary Range: $106,500 - $156,500

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
