What you will be doingReporting to the Manager of Risk and Policy, the Risk and Privacy Specialist plays a critical role in strengthening organizational resilience, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting safe, high-quality patient care. With a primary focus on enterprise and clinical risk management, this role assists in proactive risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring activities across the organization. The Specialist also provides specialized privacy expertise to support compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and related legislation.
Working collaboratively with internal and external partners, the Specialist supports a culture of safety, accountability, and privacy protection.
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in a related health discipline or equivalent with a health focus
- Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada Designation
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare setting
- Ability to gather high quality data, analyzing and problem solving while upholding standards across the organization
- Knowledge in developing automated processes, programs and functions to compile data to reduce human error and save time
- Knowledge of the following: HIM Policies and Procedures; PHIPA; IPC: FIPPA; PIPEDA, Privacy Policy
- Ability to work with internal as well as external stakeholders (ie. Regional Privacy Resource – LHSC)
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging, informative and well-organized presentations
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
- Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking skillset
- Demonstrated acceptable performance record
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to deal with the occasional difficult or challenging situation
- Experience working in an ever—changing environment
- Experience in a healthcare setting in Privacy and/or Risk Management
- Enrollment in the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital.
