In this role you will be completing annual reviews on investments in our portfolio. If you have strong written and oral communication skills, with experience working in Excel, PowerPoint and Word, this role is for you!

Work Arrangements

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you’ll do
  • Support senior members of the Private Investments team with the monitoring of existing investments in the Private Placement portfolio to ensure compliance with respective terms and conditions and perform written credit reviews with recommendations for approval by Senior Management
  • Assist the Senior Commercial Account Manager in performing effective control and performance functions in the Commercial Mortgage portfolio including the annual review process, recognizing increased risks and potential defaults, and administering borrower requests
  • Assist with the due diligence and underwriting of prospective investments including the preparation of detailed written investment proposal memorandums supporting recommendations for approval by Senior Management
  • Assist in the evaluation and/or preparation of management reports for credit amendments or problematic accounts
  • Provide support in the ongoing management of the Private equity portfolio
What you’ll bring
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that includes a Co-operative (Co-op) work component
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management, or Bachelor of Mathematics with Financial Analysis and Risk Management
  • An interest in and aptitude for investments with a willingness to learn
  • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Knowledge of SQL and Python an asset
