We are looking for a civil engineering student to complete a 4‑month internship within our Community Development team in London, commencing May 2026.

As a civil engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and expand your engineering skills within a supportive team atmosphere. Our intern student will be provided coaching and guidance by senior engineers and technologists while completing meaningful tasks required for a project’s success.

Key Responsibilities

As a civil engineering intern, your responsibilities may include:

  • Acting as an on‑site observer for active construction projects.

    Duties include:
  • Interacting with contractors, surveyors, and City of London inspectors
  • Cross‑referencing engineering drawings to surveyor gradesheets and contractor product
  • Communicating on‑site issues to the office and assisting with problem solving
  • Preparation of construction documents including quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Assisting designers throughout various stages of drawing production
  • Erosion & Sediment Control Reports
  • Design and review sanitary, storm and water networks in support of the designer
  • Using AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare figures and to complete designer tasks
  • Drafting emails, letters, memos, and technical reports
  • Understanding and implementing Stantec’s policies, framework, and safety culture
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and take initiative when faced with a problem
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • A strong dedication to continuous improvement and professional development
  • Possession of a valid Class “G” driver’s license
Education and Experience
  • Actively progressing towards a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Summary:
