Location: Strathroy

Norbec is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to support the startup and expansion of our new 150,000 ft² manufacturing facility in Strathroy, Ontario. This role will play a key part in capital projects, equipment installation and commissioning, and continuous improvement as production ramps up and the facility grows.

This is an in‑person role for an engineer who enjoys being on the shop floor, taking ownership of projects from concept through startup, and working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, this hands‑on manufacturing engineering role is focused on capital projects, equipment startup, and continuous improvement with ownership of projects from concept through commissioning and early production.

Why This Role Exists

Norbec has been in production for one year and is entering a phase of rapid production ramp‑up, new product launches and future facility expansion.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review/prepare project documents such as technical specifications and requests for quotation.
  • Participate in design and construction oversight, including supplier visits, and supervise site installation and startup of projects.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets and follow these projects through the creation of CAPEX requests and project completion.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams, including purchasing, accounting, R&D, production and maintenance.
  • Actively participate in equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and early production support.
  • This job is envisioned as one that is a hands‑on role as well as administrative. The expectation is that, for some smaller projects, the engineer will independently plan, execute, and implement solutions with minimal support.
  • The selected candidate will also demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, a team‑oriented attitude, strong attention to detail, and effective organizational skills within a fast‑paced environment.
Education and Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5‑7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and capital project execution.
  • B.Tech or

    B.Eng is preferred in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering.
  • P.Eng, EIT, or eligibility for registration with PEO preferred; CET considered with significant relevant experience.
Key Skills Required
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety requirements, CSA standards related to industrial applications, TSSA, PSHSR requirements and ESA inspection to ensure that projects comply with industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated electro‑mechanical knowledge which translates into being a creative problem solver who can recognize needs and pursue them with minimal direction.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including engineering tools, project documentation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to learn, troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Able to operate both in a hands‑on setting with maintenance tasks and related administrative functions.
