Intermediate Roadway Designer role ation options:
Brampton, Markham, London or Hamilton, ON. EXP is a global network delivering innovative solutions for the world’s built and natural environments.
You will be part of the Transportation team, based in Ontario, and have the opportunity to work on various roadway/highway projects.
What a day at EXP has in store for you- Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, preliminary and detailed designs for new and/or rehabilitation of divided highways, arterial regional roads, collector roads, and local roads.
- Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards.
- Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
- Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
- Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the division.
- Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and construction supervision staff.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for future projects.
- Emphasis and proficiency with Micro Station, Openroads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D. Experience with earlier versions of Micro Station and Inroads will be considered.
- Strong computer software skills with Project Wise, Word, Excel & MS Project.
- Highly proficient in the use of MTO’s CPS and HiCo software applications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of MTO and Metrolinx standards, including various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards.
- Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing.
- Track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from MTO, roads authorities and environmental agencies.
- Independent, organized and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver projects under stringent schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- 5-7 years of experience.
