Intermediate Electrical Designer/Drafter – Technologist
SBM is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in electrical building systems, a passion for design & drafting, and a desire to support junior staff while managing project delivery.
The successful candidate will support the Electrical Engineering Department in design & drafting of electrical systems for buildings across the residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. They will collaborate with the electrical design and engineering team to develop permit and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards. The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team to meet design objectives and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design team with drafting for a variety of building projects (e.g., residential, commercial, institutional).
- Prepare electrical drawings, load calculations, and system layouts.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (mechanical, structural, civil) and external stakeholders (architects, clients, authorities).
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., OESC, OBC, CSA).
- Mentor junior electrical designers and interns.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by Electrical Team Lead(s), Engineers, or Division Manager.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology.
- CET designation (or eligibility).
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in building systems design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software such as AGi

Full‑time position with a salary range of $64,000 – $80,000 plus an annual performance bonus. Standard hours are 8:00 am–5:00 pm Monday‑Thursday and 8:00 am–2:30 pm Friday.
