Your OpportunityStantec's River Services group provides clients with professional services in a wide range of disciplines including stream restoration, geomorphological assessment, watershed studies, environmental assessments, and floodplain analysis. We offer complete surface‑water resources planning and engineering services from conceptual study through design, construction, and monitoring. Our integrated teams incorporate related disciplines such as civil engineering, landscape architecture, aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, wetland science, soil science, and hydrogeology to deliver thorough project understanding and comprehensive design.
The group is known for mentoring junior staff and delivering high‑quality services.
- Undertake modeling and design tasks associated with River Services work in support of a wide variety of projects in both the private and public sectors.
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, other technical staff, and multidisciplinary team members to meet project needs in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in detailed field and office studies and design tasks associated with stream restoration projects.
- Perform field work as required, including the collection of geomorphological field data, post‑construction monitoring, environmental sampling, and more.
- Coordinate design and construction drawings.
- Write reports and design briefs to document analyses.
- Meet with regulatory agencies and clients to address project‑specific stream restoration issues.
- Take responsibility for the quality of written, technical, and graphic work.
- Manage the technical and financial aspects of stream restoration projects.
- Prepare and participate in proposals for new projects.
- Provide construction administration and observation services.
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience with Stream Restoration / Surface Water Resources work.
- Be registered or eligible to be registered as a P.Eng or P.Geo. in Ontario.
- Have knowledge of surveying techniques, design/drafting software (Civil 3D), hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and natural channel design concepts.
- Be able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Be a self‑motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel away from home for up to a week and perform fieldwork under challenging conditions.
- Show a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is a priority.
- Have project management experience (considered an asset).
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
