Position Summary:
This course deals with the fundamentals of organic chemistry. The topics considered include carbon compounds and chemical bonds, introduction to functional groups, acids and bases in organic chemistry, nomenclature in organic chemistry, stereo chemistry of carbon compounds, ionic reactions: nucleophilic substitutions and elimination, radical reactions, reactions and synthesis of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides.

Qualifications – Discipline: Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline
Qualifications – Preferred or an Asset: (i) PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline; or (ii) a Master’s Degree plus PhD in progress in these disciplines along with a Laurier University Teaching Certificate (or equivalent recognized teaching credential) and experience in the posted or substantially similar course; or (iii) a Master’s Degree plus M.Ed. and experience in the posted or substantially similar course.
