Perth Children’s House is excited to hire a Classroom Support Worker to work in our Casa Montessori Program. The position is Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Perth Children’s House Montessori School (Casa Program) was founded in 1974 by a dedicated group of parents in the Perth area who decided that their children, and their community, needed another option for early education. Perth Children’s House is located in beautiful downtown, heritage Perth and continues to be a parent-run organization where parents enjoy taking an active role in the school.

In September 2020 Perth Children’s House opened a second location in Perth to offer an Elementary Montessori program.

As a Classroom Support you will work side-by-side with educators and children, providing additional support to all children where required.

With a strong understanding of best practices for teaching children the Classroom Support position is tailored to the needs of the child, and staff making the position unique. The Classroom Support will support classroom management, provide lunch supervision, uphold cleaning duties and ongoing communication with staff about observation and documentation.

Will be 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

• Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) from an accredited college.
• Accredited Montessori diploma from an AMI or MACTE approved program (preferred)
• Demonstrated Montessori experience or acquiring an understanding/growth of the Montessori Philosophy is required in this position.
• Understanding best practices in teaching children and inclusive education.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English, French would be an asset.
• Confident, enthusiastic, and naturally curious
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a small team
• Current criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screening.
• First aid certificate with infant and children (CPR-C) and up to date immunizations

• Supporting the classroom in any capacity needed.
• Supervision of students for lunch coverage and outdoor time.
• Supporting children with various degrees of need in the learning environment.
• Communicating with staff on how to support the program.
• Providing support to other classroom staff.
• Establishing effective communication and relationships with children and families.
• Supporting Independence while in the classroom.
• Allowing the child to self correct, allowing errors and not correcting helps to empower the child.
• Observation and documentation of students
• Empowering the child to be accountable
• Allowing an uninterrupted work session.
• Reminders of the grace and courtesies of the program
• Modelling a professional demeanor and being a role model for students
• Using an appropriate voice and level of speaking that does not bring attention or distract the classroom or individual students.
