DAY CAMP COUNSELLOR (SEASONAL - SUMMER 2026)

The London Children’s Museum is looking for creative, fun, professional, and enthusiastic Day Camp Counsellors to join our team. Working with the Visitor Experience staff, Day Camp Counsellors will contribute to developing and delivering outstanding day camp programs for children aged 4‑9. Team members will identify with and exemplify our organisational values, which are:
Listen Closely, Be Awesome, Stay Curious, Be Helpful, Include Everyone, Dream Big, and Have Fun. Position: 8 positions; hourly contract at 40 hours per week from June 22 – September 4, 2026, including mandatory training on June 13 or 14, 2026 (TBD). Compensation: $18.00/hour Key

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate ten weeks of engaging, educational, and fun day camp programs
  • Encourage and support an inclusive and respectful atmosphere for all campers
  • Ensure the care, safety, and security of day campers at all times
  • Supervise and participate in on‑site and off‑site activities, including physical activities, science experiments, art activities, songs, and games
  • Communicate with camper caregivers daily
  • Provide exceptional visitor experience and customer service
  • Provide training, support, and supervision of volunteers as needed
  • Be a helpful, positive, and engaged member of the London Children’s Museum team
  • Provide children with additional support as needed
  • Accept other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Previous day camp experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated expertise and interest in providing playful, engaging, experiential learning experiences for children
  • Desire to work in a distinctly child‑centred environment
  • Specific interest or expertise in the areas of science, art, history, culture, engineering, museums, and/or outdoor learning is an asset
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong risk management and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience assisting children who require additional support is an asset

Position Requirements:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR C – must be obtained prior to start date
  • Must be 16 years of age or older at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
