Central Coast Agriculture is hiring a Head of Regulatory Compliance to support the next phase of growth for our cannabis operations! This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong command of California cannabis regulations and the judgment to interpret and apply them thoughtfully and pragmatically. You’ll lead our licensing efforts, serve as the primary point of contact with regulators, and work closely with executive and operational leaders to manage risk and regulatory compliance in a way that supports the business.

Position SummaryThe Head of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for leading CCA’s compliance strategy, ensuring adherence to all state, local, and federal regulations that govern the cannabis industry. This high-impact role manages the full lifecycle of licenses and permits, oversees compliance operations across facilities, and serves as CCA’s primary liaison with regulatory agencies.
This position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of cannabis regulations, and the ability to manage risk and compliance across multiple business units, including cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution.
Strategic Compliance Leadership- Develop, implement, and oversee CCA’s comprehensive compliance program, ensuring business practices align with current and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Lead compliance strategy discussions with executive leadership; provide timely updates on regulatory changes, risks, and opportunities.
- Build and foster a strong culture of compliance across all levels of the organization.
- Licensing & Regulatory Management
- Manage the full lifecycle of all licenses and permits (applications, renewals, modifications) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies and serve as the company’s primary point of contact during audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Ensure compliance for permits involving environmentally sensitive areas, water resources, air quality, and other regulated environmental activities.
- Oversee development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance systems.
- Plan and conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments; oversee corrective and preventative action plans (CAPA).
- Ensure timely submission of reports and documentation required by state, county, and local regulatory agencies.
- Partner cross-functionally with cultivation, manufacturing, product development, sales, and other teams to embed compliance into daily operations.
- Develop and deliver compliance training and educational resources for managers and employees.
- Ensure employees understand compliance obligations and promote accountability through proactive communication and support.
- Manage, mentor, and develop compliance professionals.
- Establish clear objectives, monitor performance, and ensure strong collaboration across the team.
