County of Santa Barbara Health is looking for a skilled and compassionate individual with a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with special healthcare needs. We are accepting applications to fill one (1)
Bilingual English/Spanish Therapy Attendant position for a Part-Time (0.75 FTE) vacancy on the California Children’s Services (CCS) team in Lompoc
.

NOTE: The schedule for these in-person positions is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

:
Appointment to Fill Vacancy During Leave of Absence. 1414 vacancies may occur as a result of a leave of absence, and the duration of the appointment shall be subject to the return of the individual on leave. A person appointed under Civil Service Rule 1414 may be able to transition into a regular position in the classification without re-application or re-testing, depending on performance and department needs.

The Position

Under close supervision, the Therapy Attendant assists professional staff in providing physical and occupational therapy to infants and children with physical disabilities; performs related work as required.

The Program

California Children’s Services (CCS): The CCS program provides diagnostic and treatment services, medical case management, and physical and occupational therapy services to children under age 21 with CCS-eligible medical conditions. CCS is administered as a partnership between county health departments and the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Qualifications & Requirements
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent AND some experience working with children or individuals with physical disabilities; OR a combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to the employment standards listed above.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required and travel independently.
  • The ability to read, write, and converse fluently in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • If bilingual, may be placed on the employment list for positions requiring bilingual skills; hiring departments may test fluency.
  • Sign a statement agreeing to comply with California Penal Code sections on child and dependent adult abuse reporting; fingerprinting may be required for some positions.

Ability
:
Communicate clearly and concisely; lift, carry and pull patients; follow instructions; keep records; maintain confidentiality; learn treatments and procedures in physical and occupational therapy.

Application & Selection Process
  • Review applications and supplemental questionnaire to determine employment standards.
  • Supplemental Questionnaire Ranking: responses will be evaluated and scored. Final scores determine eligibility list rank. This process may be eliminated if there are fewer than 11 qualified candidates.
  • Candidates must meet a minimum score on the supplemental questionnaire to be placed on the employment list. The list is active for a minimum of three months.

Applicants will receive an email notice of score, rank, and list duration.
