This is a benefited part-time position (30 hours a week) located in Lompoc at the I-Center Head Start Center, working off during the summer months. Salary ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on Early Childhood Education units completed.

• Maintain 100% supervision of all children in teacher/child ratio situations.
• Consistently use positive child guidance methods.
• Develop positive relationships with each child and with parents.
• Assist in meal preparation, mealtime, and clean up.
• Set cots or mats out for nap time and assist children during napping.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information about enrolled families.
• Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings and curriculum planning meetings.
• Assist in implementing the curriculum under teacher direction, including small groups, field trips, mealtimes, and one‑on‑one activities.
• Contribute to child observations and ongoing assessment.
• Assist children with toileting, diapering and/or feeding and other physical care needs.
• Be aware of all children with food allergies and ensure appropriate substitutions.
• Show sensitivity to children with special needs.
• Function as a positive team member, communicating effectively with families and co‑workers.
• Attend parent meetings and home visits when requested.
• Perform other comparable duties as required.

Child Development Teacher Assistant Permit or higher from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and enrollment in a Child Development Associate credential program to be completed within two (2) years of hire.

Knowledge of internet software and Word Processing software.

Current Child Development Permit. Pediatric First Aid and CPR card.

Experience working with children with disabilities desirable; bilingual preferred.

Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination, tuberculosis clearance, and community licensing fingerprint process. Provide verification of state‑required vaccines upon hire (Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles); exceptions for influenza waivers are accepted.
