Corporate Accounting Manager

Location: Lombard, IL (Hybrid)

Reports To: Assistant Controller

Team: Initially process leadership, with people management as the team continues to scale

Our client is a $2B+ privately held, private‑equity‑backed industrial distribution organization with a national footprint and aggressive growth strategy. With hundreds of locations across North America and a highly acquisitive platform, this is a rare opportunity to step into a visible corporate accounting leadership role within a complex, multi‑entity environment.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for a strong technical accountant who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and driving modernization across systems and reporting. You’ll partner closely with the Assistant Controller and broader finance leadership while helping shape the future‑state accounting function.

• Lead the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close
  , ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and U.S. GAAP compliance
• Review and prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Partner with leadership on consolidations, financial reporting, and corporate analysis
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and data integrity across multiple ERP platforms
• Oversee implementation and integration of key systems (e.g.,
  lease accounting, fixed assets, consolidations
  )
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure audit readiness; serve as primary point of contact for external auditors
• Apply technical accounting guidance for complex transactions and evolving standards
• Contribute to system modernization, scalability initiatives, and future‑state process design
• Mentor and develop the accounting team as it continues to grow

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required;
  CPA or Master’s preferred
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience within corporate or multi‑entity environments
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and close processes
• M&A or Purchase Accounting experience
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, etc.)
• Experience with ERP, consolidation, and accounting systems
  ; comfortable working directly in the tools
• Proven success in process improvement or system implementations
• Public accounting or audit background a plus
• Highly organized, analytical, and comfortable balancing strategy with hands‑on execution
