Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Pediatrics, has an immediate opening for a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Clinical and Metabolic Geneticist. This position includes a faculty appointment, commensurate with training and experience, at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Position OverviewThis is an excellent opportunity for a clinician/educator, whether newly trained or experienced in metabolic genetics, with broad interests in all facets of clinical genetics and genomics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, newborn screening, patient care, inpatient consults, outpatient genetic clinics, multidisciplinary team settings, teaching medical students, pediatric and neurology residents, genetic counseling students, and research. Protected research time is available, and a research focus is encouraged.
There are ample opportunities for collaboration and program development.
The clinical genetics practice offers both depth and breadth across areas such as neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, cancer genetics, dysmorphology, congenital anomalies, and other specialties. The team includes two full-time and two part-time geneticists, two per diem geneticists, four pediatric genetic counselors, and a genetic counseling assistant. A new multispecialty pediatric outpatient facility is scheduled to open next year.
Laboratory and Educational OpportunitiesLoma Linda University Clinical Lab is developing a state-of-the-art genetic and genomic testing laboratory to provide comprehensive diagnostic services. The lab features a PhD laboratory geneticist and a laboratory-based genetic counselor. Additionally, the School of Medicine will start a newly accredited MS program in genetic counseling in fall 2025.
Institutional HighlightsThe Medical Center and Children's Hospital are strategically located in Southern California, with the largest Level IV NICU in the state, pediatric cardiac transplant and ECMO capabilities, and developing a Perinatal Care Center focused on prenatal diagnosis. The institution supports specialized teams for cystic fibrosis, hemoglobinopathies, spina bifida, metabolic genetics, and craniofacial anomalies.
Compensation & BenefitsThe starting salary ranges from $252,000 to $278,000, adjusted based on experience and faculty rank. Benefits include:
