Logansport State Hospital

Logansport State Hospital is a state‑operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence‑based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $71,500.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life Program Administration Support
  • Prioritize and organize the daily care of patients.
  • Make care assignments and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.
  • Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems.
  • Monitor the safety and security of individuals and staff by conducting routine rounds.
  • Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records.
  • Provide orientation and support to staff on the unit.
Program Management Support
  • Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of individuals' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to state‑operated health care facility policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans for diagnosis or treatment plan changes.
  • Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff.
  • Educate individuals and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals and objectives.
  • Respond and intervene in emergency situations and with agitated individuals using verbal de‑escalation techniques.
  • Ensure proper safety and infection control standards, including compliance management, are met for the unit to protect staff and individuals.

  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate employee performance to ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper protocols.

Experience & Education
  • Must possess an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college.
  • Must possess an active license to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
