Job Summary
Packages and ships company sales orders and other requested shipments from all departments. Responsible for staying up to date with rules, laws, and regulations affecting all shipments, especially pertaining to lithium‑ion batteries. Communicate effectively with all internal and external customers concerning shipping of products. Responsible for ensuring all scheduled shipments are processed on time. Continuously suggests improvements in all areas of manufacturing and the order fulfillment process while building the culture according to the mission and vision of the company and department.
The Shipping Assistant must be aligned with the mission, vision, maxims, and employee handbook policies of both the company and the department and expect excellence in their own performance.
- Attend monthly Company-Wide huddle
- Works with Manufacturing A-Team to set priorities
- Works with Inventory Group to help balance capacity of the entire group.
- Implement lean techniques and concepts in the shipping and order fulfillment processes
- Continually stays current with shipping laws, rules, regulations, changes, and trends both domestically and internationally
- Stays current on hazardous material shipping certification
- Responsible for replenishing shipping supplies while working with the Purchasing team to evaluate and reduce costs relentlessly.
- Ships Sales Orders, RMAs, and Company requests
- Reviews and suggests updates to all work instructions related to shipping
- Communicates regularly with shipping couriers to maintain a good working relationship.
- Requires occasional travel within a 10-mile radius of company (to shipping hubs)
- Suggests improvements to processes to increase the efficiency of product flowing through the manufacturing department.
- Implements visual cues to help reduce waste.
- Ensures standardization in daily/weekly/monthly/yearly work responsibilities.
- Champions the company and department mission/vision through building a culture of positive work environment and improvement.
- Shipping FOA's 90%
- High school diploma or equivalent; no work experience, no skill or training required for this job.
- Preferred:
Basic computer skills including knowledge of Word and Excel. Must have a system of managing, prioritizing, and scheduling tasks. Ability to keep multiple projects organized and follows projects through to completion. Experience in lean techniques. ERP systems experience. Excellent organizational and visual workplace skills. Experience with Fed Ex, UPS, and Freight Systems and processes. - The shipping assistant must be reliable, punctual, and communicate constantly with peers and supervisors. Time off needs to be scheduled in advance as much as possible due to the nature of the job.
