Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 6th Grade Math Teacher to join our team in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for our students. This position focuses on delivering high-quality mathematics instruction aligned to Utah core standards, helping students develop strong computational skills, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in mathematics.

The ideal candidate will create and implement engaging, standards-based math lessons that meet the diverse needs of middle-level learners while promoting academic growth and social-emotional development. Instruction includes areas such as ratios and proportional reasoning, expressions and equations, fractions and decimals, geometry, statistics, and mathematical modeling appropriate for 6th grade students.

This full-time position requires strong communication skills, creativity, effective classroom management, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of students.

Applicants must hold:

  • A valid Utah Educator License with an Elementary endorsement,
    OR
  • A valid Utah Educator License with a Secondary endorsement and a Mathematics endorsement,
  • Or be able to qualify for appropriate Utah licensure and endorsement.
Essential Functions
  • Adapts classroom instruction to provide students with mathematics materials and learning experiences aligned to Utah 6th grade math standards while addressing individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  • Develops and implements engaging, standards-based math lessons that support diverse learning styles and promote conceptual understanding.
  • Administers developmental testing programs, math-specific assessments, and performance tasks to assess student competency levels and inform instruction.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations, student achievements, and developing methods for improvement and reinforcement of classroom goals at home.
  • Assess student progress toward objectives and learning goals to provide meaningful feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and support school improvement goals.
  • Encourages mathematical reasoning, problem solving, collaboration, and productive struggle in learning.
  • Demonstrates mathematical strategies, models problem-solving processes, and utilizes instructional technology to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to support classroom instruction.
  • Instructs students to improve their academic and interpersonal skills through a defined 6th grade mathematics course of study.
  • Manages student behavior to maintain a safe, structured, and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitors students in various educational settings (classroom, small groups, field trips, etc.) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, PLC collaboration, and other required meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the school.
  • Prepares and maintains required documentation including grades, attendance, assessments, and anecdotal records.
  • Reports incidents as needed to maintain student safety and adhere to district and state policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations appropriately and follows established safety procedures.
  • Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and other stakeholders to provide information and resolve concerns.
