Overview
The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Utah State University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure track position that is eligible for promotion.
The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) Interdisciplinary Graduate Training Program, oversee LSL interdisciplinary practicum requirements, and provide graduate student supervision and mentoring.
Located on the main campus in Logan, Utah, this is a 1 FTE, 9-month academic year position. Review of applications will begin March 20, 2026.

Responsibilities- Work within a collaborative team in the department's graduate programs in early childhood deaf education, audiology, and speech language pathology.
- Teach graduate courses in deaf education with emphasis on listening and spoken language educational methods.
- Provide oversight of interdisciplinary practicum requirements for deaf education, speech-language pathology, and audiology graduate students. This includes developing and managing practicum schedules, monitoring student performance in practicum settings, providing feedback on performance evaluations, and monitoring student completion of interdisciplinary practicum requirements.
- Provide support to LSL graduate students in completing educational projects associated with master’s degree requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Deaf Education
- LSLS Cert. AVEd. or LSLS Cert. AVT
- Minimum of ten years of professional experience serving young children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) who are developing and using listening and spoken language, including foundational knowledge of classroom curriculum, assessment, parent coaching, and current hearing technology.
- Minimum of six years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Minimum of four years providing oversight and mentoring of student practicum experiences, including competencies in delivering family-centered LSL services.
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a respectful and supportive program culture.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing or directing an early childhood or educational program.
- Experience in providing family-centered services using tele-intervention.
