Overview
The S.J. & Jessie
E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (QANR) at Utah State University is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Manager I to provide support to academic departments within the college, as well as the Institute for Antiviral Research (IAR) housed within the department of Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS). This position is integral to ensuring smooth operations, sound financial management, and compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations across these diverse units.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with 50% of the position being funded by external (grant-based) sources.
- Financial and Budget Management:
Oversee budget preparation, reconciliation, and monitoring for the department. Approve financial transactions, including purchasing, travel, payroll, and scholarships, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations. - Operational Oversight:
Manage daily financial activities, maintain account hierarchies, and ensure accurate payroll processing. - Grant and Contract Coordination:
Collaborate with faculty to administer grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and timely reporting. - Problem Solving and Compliance:
Research and resolve complex financial and operational issues, provide solutions for department heads and/or directors, and maintain compliance with state, federal, and university regulations. - Leadership and
Collaboration:
Act as the primary consultant and liaison for department heads, faculty, and university offices on financial, human resources, and operational matters. Train and mentor staff to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment. - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a business field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
- Contract and grant experience.
- Experience working in USU Business Services and knowledge of processes and policies.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel.
