Exploration Team Members (ETMs) will perform subsurface exploration duties using conventional drilling or in‑situ testing techniques, including auger, mud rotary, air rotary, and diamond bit coring methods. They also conduct in‑situ tests such as cone penetration testing (CPT), pressure meter testing, and rock dilatometer testing, and install instrumentation such as piezometers, monitor wells, and inclinometers. ETMs work as part of a multi‑person team on projects, performing daily tasks such as surveying and locating drilling points, site reconnaissance, loading/unloading tooling, material handling, sample classification, routine equipment maintenance, and documentation of field and DOT logs.

• Operate a geotechnical drill rig to advance boreholes to required depths.
• Oversee a 2‑ or 3‑man drill crew across all drilling tasks.
• Demonstrate problem‑solving skills for routine to moderately complex issues.
• Install instrumentation and monitoring wells.
• Perform routine repairs and maintenance on drilling equipment.
• Conduct surveying, site reconnaissance, and utility clearance tasks.
• Drive drilling equipment to and from project locations.
• Inspect and maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Assist in project preparation and pre‑task planning.
• Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and standards.

• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in geotechnical and/or environmental drilling methods.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card within 30 days of employment.
• Required state or regional driller/well‑installation licensure when applicable.

• Experience with in‑situ test methods.
• Instrumentation installation.
• Barrel, angle, and environmental drilling.
• Regional drilling licensure.
• Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license.

Minimum $27.00 – Maximum $37.50 per hour, based on location, qualifications, and experience.
