The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean work area at all times.
They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understand that safety the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Responsible for security of building including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance devices, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code and ensure all Associates adhere to it.
- Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed, processing all merchandise with a sense of urgency, and receiving all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms and assist in placing merchandise on the sales floor.
- Ensure any back‑stock is secured and processed to Company policy and that merchandising of each department, including back‑stock, meets policy.
- Reduce loss due to damage and comply with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Perform floor moves, signing, and re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a large customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguard confidential information, cash, credit cards, and merchandise.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system and conduct “code” package inspections.
- Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity while minimizing steps and touches.
Front End Supervision and Operations
- Ensure Associates execute to Company standards at the front end, maintain pace, energy, and presence, and manage line expeditiously.
