Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our team. As an Assistant General Manager, your primary responsibility is to the customer, ensuring that every guest has a wonderful experience. To be successful as an Assistant General Manager, you should have excellent communication skills and a passion for customer service. You should be someone who leads by example, both in how you interact with your team as well as how you support our guests.

You will assume a wide variety of responsibilities and duties such as recruiting and hiring restaurant staff, training and development, overseeing food quality, greeting and serving restaurant guests, and supporting service.

The Assistant General Manager is expected to operate with a General Manager mindset and capability. This role is responsible for understanding and supporting all aspects of restaurant operations, including financial performance, leadership development, and operational execution. While reporting to the General Manager, the AGM should be able to step into the GM role as needed and run the restaurant confidently and independently.

  • Manage and oversee restaurant operations
  • Deliver exceptional guest service
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently to customer questions and complaints
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Manage and lead staff
  • Develop hourly staff
  • Hire new employees
  • Terminate employees when necessary
  • Training and evaluating staff performance
  • Manage labor
  • Manage restaurant supplies
  • Create and nurture a positive working environment
  • Conduct and participate in financial reviews, including sales, labor, and controllable costs
  • Understand P&L statements and support the General Manager in driving financial performance
  • Train, coach, and develop Assistant Managers and supervisory team members
  • Ensure management team accountability and consistency across shifts
  • Assist in setting goals and action plans for management and hourly teams
  • Maintain operational standards and enforce company policies consistently
  • Serve as the acting General Manager when the GM is not present
  • Model leadership behaviors and decision-making expected of a General Manager
Qualifications
  • Ideally, 2+ years of experience as an Assistant General Manager or similar role
  • Ideally, 5+ years of customer service experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with restaurant financials, labor management, and cost controls
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop managers
  • Ability to lead the restaurant independently when required
