Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible. The MFG Automation Engineer (Controls) is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and will be located in Lodi, CA. The role is day shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Sunday to Thursday.
- Perform reliability-centered maintenance activities for electrical systems, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based programs such as thermal imaging, ultrasound, motor testing, and control loop evaluations.
- Execute, repair, and monitor key electrical and control processes, including IT&M and Electrical Safety protocols, while providing engineering feedback to improve automation performance.
- Support advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis across control systems including sensors, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, servo and drive systems, motion controllers, heating systems, RTDs, MCCs, and thermal probes.
- Lead training efforts for Line Technicians by implementing electrical and control learning plans and supporting the development of job aids, OCAPs, SOPs, and one-point lessons (OPLs).
- Act as a Controls System Subject Matter Expert, partnering with cross-functional teams to refine standards, elevate system reliability, and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Mechatronics, or related field with 2+ years of related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with electro-mechanical equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment, including proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Experience with servo systems, Control Logix, vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), and Epson Robots.
- In-depth knowledge of SCADA systems (Ignition/Factory Talk), ladder logic, Profibus, VB Script, RSLinx, and HMIs – configuration, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
Cepheid, a Danaher company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives. The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000, with bonus/incentive pay eligibility. We may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) for eligible employees.
