Overview
Henry County Library System is a 5‑library system that serves a diverse community of 240,000 in the Southern Crescent area of metropolitan Atlanta. We are currently accepting applications for an Assistant Branch Manager at Locust Grove Public Library. Locust Grove is a thriving small town, and the library enjoys a robust network of partnerships with other local organizations and an internal culture of creative collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Interacting with patrons and staff to ensure that every library visitor receives quality service.
- General oversight of library operations.
- Ability to supervise all aspects of branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
- Some programming and outreach duties.
- General reference work and circulation duties, to include assisting patrons with computers, copiers, and other technology, locating materials in the collection, and helping patrons access our digital collections.
- In cooperation with the Branch Manager and administration, participate in goal setting for the branch and in evaluating outcomes, and communicate branch needs through established channels.
- The Assistant Branch Manager in Stockbridge serves as a Passport Acceptance Agent (training provided).
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Three or more years of public contact work.
- Work history showing steadily increasing levels of responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Broad general knowledge of information resources and materials.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation and BenefitsOpen until filled. Hourly (non‑exempt) position. Starting rate of pay is $18 to $22 per hour, depending on education and experience. Benefits include generous paid vacation, sick leave, paid maternity/paternity leave, optional medical & dental insurance under State Health Plan, and participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Georgia. Service accrued under TRS is transferable.
