JOB SUMMARY
The Sonographer will be responsible for performing various ultrasound imaging procedures to assist in diagnosing and evaluating a range of medical conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, be adept in using ultrasound equipment, committed to patient care, and capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Conduct Ultrasound Examinations: Perform diagnostic ultrasound/vascular procedures including abdominal, pelvic, extremities, and other relevant scans as ordered by physicians.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, explaining the process to ensure their understanding and comfort.
- Image Acquisition: Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of internal organs and structures, following established protocols and procedures.
- Image Analysis: Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to review ultrasound images to identify and document abnormalities or changes and provide preliminary findings to the physician.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, imaging results, and technical details in electronic health records (EHR) and prepare detailed reports for review by healthcare providers.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to communicate findings and integrate ultrasound results into patient care plans.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and safety; report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, infection control practices, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Patient Care: Provide empathetic and professional care to patients, addressing their questions and concerns with sensitivity and respect.
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound Technology from an accredited program.
- Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Sonographer, preferably in a clinical or outpatient setting.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and PACS. - Clinical
Skills:
Proficiency in performing a variety of ultrasound procedures with accuracy. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology as it relates to ultrasound imaging. - Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in performing and documenting ultrasound procedures.
- Compassionate Care: Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care, with a focus on empathy and professionalism.
