Accountant, Accounting Manager, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections

Job Title:
Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 annually

A well-established nonprofit organization in Romeoville is seeking an Accountant to support their Director of Finance on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on accounting work and wants to contribute to a mission‑driven organization making a meaningful impact in the community.

• Support the Director of Finance with day‑to‑day accounting operations
• Manage accounts payable and ensure timely vendor payments
• Handle accounts receivable, billing, and cash application
• Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Assist with month‑end close, including journal entries and financial reporting
• Help maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, and month‑end processes
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
