The RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our community rehabilitation service, a dynamic multi‑disciplinary team providing assessment, treatment, and intervention to older people and disabled adults with multiple pathologies within South Locality of Glasgow City.
The Rehab service responds to a wide range of referrals from acute and community settings with the aim of preventing hospital admission and maximising patients independence within their own home. You will be part of an integrated team, working directly alongside other AHP and nursing professions to deliver person‑centred goals.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver a high quality specialist service, providing expert clinical intervention, education and support to patients and their carers. You will provide specialist patient assessment, case coordination, treatment and plan discharge for adults with complex rehabilitation needs.
Other duties will involve the provision of expert advice on professional interventions as well as supervision of appropriate team members and students. There will be opportunities to be actively involved in service development and quality improvement.
You will be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and your post graduate experience should include working within any or all of the following;
Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Medicine or Care of the Elderly Specialties and you should be able demonstrate a desire to work within the community setting.

- Part‑time post (29.6 hours per week)
- Shift post for this post are Monday to Sunday, 08.30am – 4.30pm
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
- Undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients (including screening and multi‑professional baseline assessments) with a complex presentation using investigative skills, analysing clinical and non‑clinical information (i.e. social information, environmental) and to provide a functional diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for Occupational Therapy intervention, using formal assessment tools as appropriate.
- Provide specialist interventions based on a problem‑solving and advanced clinical reasoning approach. Deliver specialist interventions using the principles of graded activity and a wide range of treatment techniques i.e. Neuro developmental, therapeutic handling techniques, functional rehabilitation, adaptation, specialist equipment provision and use, education and health improvement. Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
- Following assessment, act autonomously to assess, develop, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions for a range of patients. This will include patients who have highly complex presentations and those with multi‑factorial health and social needs, requiring multi‑service/multi‑agency input. Incorporate risk assessment to maximise functional independence and rehabilitation potential within a specialist area.
- Take a coordinating role and be responsible for the day to day management and delivery of the OT services in conjunction with the interdisciplinary service, as agreed with the Team Leader. Undertake delegated managerial tasks on an infrequent basis as directed.
