Clinton County Correctional Facility is accepting applications for a full‑time Maintenance Specialist. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in a maintenance‑related field is preferred.
Note:
Full‑time relevant work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis. Minimum of two (2) years of full‑time work experience in a related maintenance or technical field. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the position may be considered. A valid driver's license, satisfactory pre‑employment drug screen, and background check also required.
Starting salary is $40,061.00 (Grade I)
Responsibilities- Perform basic maintenance duties (work orders) throughout the facility and grounds as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Support preventative maintenance and repair operations, including HVAC systems, boilers, sprinkler systems, generators, kitchen equipment, doors, locks, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment.
- Participate in preventative maintenance and monitoring of HVAC units, checking filters, adjusting settings, troubleshooting, cleaning evaporators and condenser coils, changing belts and filters, installing and repairing water pumps, lubricating bearings, and monitoring roof‑top units.
- Perform grounds maintenance functions such as trimming lawns and shrubs, raking, blowing leaves, shoveling snow, spreading salt, patching holes in asphalt, and repairing sidewalks and curbs.
- Conduct electrical repairs, testing circuits, replacing switches, outlets, ballasts, motors, pumps, exhaust fans, relays, pressure switches, and pneumatic/electric devices.
- Assist with lock repairs as directed by the facility locksmith.
- Assist with specialized mechanical equipment repairs, including security and video surveillance systems.
- Perform plumbing repairs, such as fixing leaks, unplugging drains, installing fixtures (toilets, sinks), and other minor plumbing tasks.
- Assist with deliveries to commissary, kitchen, office supplies, and other needs.
Normal schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, unless otherwise deemed necessary to meet the needs of a 24/7 operation. This position will require on‑call responsibilities.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational or technical training in a maintenance‑related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of full‑time work experience in a related maintenance or technical field.
- Basic working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, flooring, fencing, lawn care, snow removal, and appliance repair.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a satisfactory pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
