We are seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer for our state-of-the-art water & beverage facility in Lock Haven, PA.

This position will be responsible for managing the design, development, and engineering processes for packaging of new and existing products, from concept design through production launch, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Principal responsibilities include:

Materials development, including sourcing and qualification of plastic resins, colorants, additives, etc.

Sourcing, development, and qualification of primary and secondary equipment, molds, etc.

Leading new package development activities, critiquing part designs for Design for Manufacturability and optimal molding and line performance.

Analyzing designs using simulation software for functionality and manufacturability.

Critiquing tool and mold designs for robust mechanical design and optimal molding performance.

Managing activities with external suppliers, including material vendors, development sources, molders, and tool makers.

Leading and supporting the qualification and commissioning process for new assets, including vendor site qualifications.

Developing machine processes that consistently produce parts conforming to specifications.

Designing and executing experiments (DOEs) to optimize manufacturing process performance.

Leading technology transfer of new packages and processes from suppliers to our manufacturing site.

Staying knowledgeable about new plastics technologies, including resins, manufacturing platforms, containers, and closures.

Supporting problem solving and process improvement activities using modern TQM tools and methods, e.g., Lean, Kaizen.

Leading and supporting process validation activities for process improvements.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

BS/MS in Plastics, Packaging, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).

Six-Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus.

Project Management experience, specifically Stage-Gate Process methodology, is preferred.

Injection mold experience, preferably on Husky equipment.

Two-step PET Blow molding experience, preferably on Krones equipment.

Design experience for PET Preforms and bottles (CAD skills not required).

Proficiency with Total Quality Management tools such as DoE, Kaizen, DFM, FMEA, etc.

Knowledge of high-speed manufacturing processes.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently or in project teams.
