Dental Nurse – Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board

The post is that of a Dental Nurse and the post holder will be expected to undertake duties in a busy Maxillofacial Department in a District General Hospital. They will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.
Main duties of the job- Provide high quality dental nurse care across a broad range of specialities.
- Participate in the delivery of evidence based care and to ensure consistency and continuity in the quality of care.
- Provide a safe, welcoming мав compassionate environment for patients and relatives.
- Deliver pre and post treatment instructions to patients and relatives/carers.
- Support the Senior Dental Nurse in the supervision of learners and newly appointed dental nurses.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. While the candidate does not need to have skills in Welsh, we will consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. It is not "fluency", it is speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Person Specification Qualifications/Knowledge- Registered Dental Nurse
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Certificate in Oral Health Education or willingness to undertake it. ILS
- Experience of working within the field of Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics
- Experience of working within the fields of Oral Surgery.
- Effective communication both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritise work efficiently
- Ability to work in a demanding environment and adapt to change in working practices to meet the needs of the service
- Ability to work within a team.
- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
- Enthusiastic
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to meet service needs
- Amenable to change as required.
- Ability to travel to all UHB sites.
