Purpose
The Manufacturing Team Leader will report to the Site’s Manufacturing Manager. This is a key role that has overall responsibility for their teams’ Health and Safety, wellbeing and adherence to the company’s quality compliance directives. You will be required to take the lead for people development, timely outputs, metric targets, quality deliverables and internal and external customer satisfaction whilst achieving the agreed departments output plan.
The role will involve strong collaboration across other functions.
The product lines manufactured are Life Science Screening and High Content Screening.
Priorities and Objectives- Monitor team performance, quality, housekeeping, H&S regulations, TPM and adherence to procedures.
- Deal with personnel issues including performance / absence, disciplinary procedures, appraisals, organise training and completing appropriate documentation.
- Hold daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with the team to communicate progress, concerns and company objectives.
- Plan the running of the area from people, production quantities, deliveries etc with complete focus on customer satisfaction.
- Be innovative and bring innovative ideas to table.
- Work in collaboration with engineers to solve problems, run experiments, verify changes.
- Can drive change through the involvement, engagement and empowerment of people to deliver year on year improvements that add value to our products (CI/VE).
- Strong people manager, who has the ability manage multiple priorities effectively, sometimes having to make autonomous decisions with a proven track record of driving continual performance improvements in a department. Past technical leadership would be advantageous.
- Delivery of KPI targets as well as delivery of Good Manufacturing Practices – can articulate performance by presenting metrics to leadership– understands the bigger picture.
- A working knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and good commercial awareness are essential requirements – we’re looking for change agents.
- Responsible for Product quality, liaise with QM dept for part / process errors.
- Will ideally be of higher education and have a track record in the Manufacturing sector.
- Leadership & Management level 3 and above preferred.
- Experience of managing a team within a manufacturing environment.
- Lean Manufacturing, Project Management.
- Ability to travel within the UK and Globally when required.
- Strong technical acumen – the ability to look at the product or the capital equipment from a technical viewpoint and offer solutions and improvements.
- MRP/ERP systems knowledge.
