Frontend Engineer - Product & Tech

We’re currently looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our team.

As a Frontend Engineer at Civica, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing user-facing applications that support critical public services. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable frontend solutions. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys building intuitive interfaces and contributing to modern engineering practices.

• Build and maintain frontend applications using React.js and Node.js
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define requirements and deliver effective solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Contribute to automated testing and behaviour-driven development practices
• Participate in code reviews and pair programming to maintain high engineering standards
• Support continuous integration and continuous deployment processes
• Work within microservices-based architectures
• Containerise applications using Docker where required
• Use Git and Git Hub for version control and collaboration
• Engage with team communication and collaboration tools such as Slack
• Develop and maintain applications using tools including npm and Visual Studio Code
• Work with cloud-based services, including AWS
• Contribute to solutions that integrate with Postgre
  
  SQL databases

• Strong experience with HTML and CSS
• Hands‑on experience building applications with React.js
• Experience working with Node.js
• Familiarity with AWS services
• Experience using Git and Git Hub in collaborative environments
• Understanding of Postgre
  
  SQL and relational databases
• Knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices
• Experience working within microservices architectures
• Comfortable with pair programming and collaborative development approaches
• Experience using Docker for containerisation
• Proficiency with development tools such as Git, npm, Slack, and Visual Studio Code
