Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse/ODP to join the team within the Endoscopy Unit at Prince Philip Hospital. The successful individual will work within a team assisting to deliver the highest standards of pre, peri and post‑procedure care to patients undergoing a variety of endoscopy procedures. This busy unit can work over six days a week, offering a service to both out‑patients and in‑patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for adults.

Main

Duties

• Provide support and training to gain exceptional knowledge and skills in gastroenterology, including anatomy and physiology.
• Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy and urology.
• Collaborate daily with gastroenterologists, surgeons, nurse endoscopists and Bowel Screening Wales practitioners.
• Participate in a standard competency pathway with a mentor and undertake training in accordance with development needs.
• Further develop skills in management, bowel screening and specialist endoscopy for future career prospects.
• English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome; speaking Welsh is desirable.

Person Specification Essential

• Current NMC/H CPC registration
• Degree in Adult Nursing, Higher Education Diploma or Degree in Operating Department Practice

Desirable

• Evidence of post‑registration study and training
• Teaching/Assessor qualification

Essential Experience

• Pre‑registration evidence in direct nursing care
• Experience of providing holistic nursing care
• Interest in developing personal and professional skills

Desirable Experience

• Clear understanding of clinical governance framework
• Implement evidence‑based practice
• Previous endoscopy or theatre experience

Language Skills

• Welsh speaker (Level 1) – desirable
