Essential Responsibilities Safety
  • Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
  • Ensure a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards
  • Will complete and authorise risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments and CAR reports
  • Responsible for completing all accident investigations and approving appropriate actions
  • Perform visual inspection of work area to obtain a 6S score daily and ensure the work area is maintained to 6S standards
Quality
  • Solution preparation for effluent
  • Clean pipe from lamella to discharge tank to ensure clear flow
  • Transfer of solutions to holding IBC’s when necessary
  • Clean press of chrome waste into skip
  • Clean clocks and pumps to ensure correct flow levels
  • Keep all chemicals at correct stock levels, inform site chemist of discrepancy in stock
  • Check control panel alarm is working correctly, raise faults to site chemist and maintenance
  • In an event of a control failure ensure divert valve is activated and effluent re directed back to holding pit
  • Store waste chemicals and label prior to disposal
  • Conduct a weekly stock check of chemicals
  • Answer Boiler alarm, raise faults to site chemist and maintenance
  • Add chemicals to tanks when instructed by the lab, check make up is correct
  • Change water to rinse tanks as required
  • When dropping chrome rinse tank, extra vigilance is needed on effluent to compensate for increase in chrome being discharged
  • Ensure there are enough chemicals for the ION exchange units to do a regeneration to produce demineralised water
  • Ensure the effluent and instrumentation are in correct working order eg. Cleaning pH probes
  • Chemicals are disposed of following correct procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring effluent output conforms to the IPPC permit
  • Ensure Chemicals are stored and labelled correctly at all times in a clean and tidy environment
  • On delivery of chemicals to site unload and store in the correct locations and areas
  • Responsible for following risk and COSHH assessments
  • Assist Maintenance with tasks as required
  • When waste company is on site assist in loading and unloading of hazardous waste
  • Responsible for identifying any failures with tank solutions, complete a (LAB
    107 A,B and

    C) stop work form and accelerate to the treatment Supervisor and/or Team Leader
  • A degree of flexibility in working is required to ensure annual leave and sickness is covered
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
  • Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems

Position Requirements

Essential Criteria :
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
  • Good verbal and written communication (passed numeracy & literacy exam)
  • Excellent vision requirements (passed vision exam)
  • FLT license
